I know it's becoming a terribly predictable and passe thing to love instant photo-looking photography, but seriously? This may be the first app I buy for my iPhone. Love.

Great overview of what's needed to help break down the "us vs them" mentality between marketing and IT. They both fulfill massively important roles in the organization, and their goal is the same - be successful and do smart things. To balance everything, you need to work together.

Wicked sexy easy-as-pie personal to do list. OMG so easy and just so lovely as well. Did I mention pretty? Did I mention free? How have I not known about this app?
Build yourself a custom, pretty home page with your four most visited sites. Data-wise, seems like this thing would be a gold mine...

Interesting piece on Agile development from the UCD framework perspective. Some tips on what to look out for, pitfalls to avoid. I found it interesting that he suggest the design team work a sprint ahead of the development team. Fascinating stuff in the comments too, about other implementations and challenges.

So conflicted about this. The UX side of me knows it's hard to get people's true responses no matter how well designed your survey. The marketer in me believes that this kind of in-depth study may indeed result in better targeted ads and packaging for consumers. But the rest of me is squicked by the idea that the only way we can really engage our customers is to hook them up like the borg. Is this progress? Or a slightly more underground/convoluted way to sell "food product" to an unsuspecting public? I'm honestly torn.

You know, I remember when we would discuss a hard drive with GIGAbytes breathlessly, like it was science fiction and would only happen on mainframes. (Remember mainframes? I think my current phone has more memory than the mainframes of old, but I digress.) I've just managed to wrap my brain around the idea that my computer has several terabytes worth of data on it. And now I must wrap my brain around a new word: petabytes. And not petabytes on my great big computer but stored on my eensy weensy camera card. Mind you, if they don't up the transfer specs, I don't imagine we'll see petabytes anytime soon. 32 MB/s, really? Whose idea was this?
So basically - unless you watermark your images, sayonara to your copyrights. And bye-bye to public photography because people have a right to privacy in public (wth?). I've read a LOT of copyright articles, bills, movements, charges, and lawsuits over the years. This little piece of UK law is, hands down, the most asinine and horrifying piece of copyright legislation I've ever read.
Excellent points, particularly about segmenting your customers and the danger of having "trained" them. I'd go one step further and say that the danger of permanently devaluing your product is huge. I keep getting emails from a magazine offering me "free - over $1000 worth of advertising" on their web site, if I'll just buy a print ad from them. And they've offered it several times, to boot. Sorry, folks, but all that teaches your customers is that your web ads probably aren't worth anything in the first place, so why would they ever buy them?
Social media expert Rob takes Facebook to task for asking users for feedback then putting that feedback in a black box. I just want to know why they would EVER show you an ad again that you've actually taken the time to dislike. Do their advertisers know this? Because that's, er, rather relevant... wouldn't you think?

Absolutely fantastic audio/slide presentation with some very surprising but well tested results. Testing rocks. Companies willing to share their test results? Rocks even more.
Can I just say yum? Always a fan of Smashing Magazine, even more so with this fab collection of wireframing kits, form elements, grids and more. Like porn for folks who like UX design.

Looks like a great new book on how to embrace the "anti-big" sentiment, work the advantages of a small and more personal business; the author has 2 chapters online for free and will be sharing more as time goes on.

Great overview on sketching. I find it much easier to do this stage (at least VERY roughly) before trying the wireframe stage. It's also far more portable and works better when dealing with non-techy, non-designy stakeholders. Paper is something everyone can understand. :) Though I must admit this looks v. sexy.
