the one where angie catches up
posted 2006.07.08
Apologies for the headline; I've been catching up on my Friends DVDs and it just amuses me to no end. Not that every episode starts with "the one where" but mostly that unless you're a rampant TV Guide reader (do they mention the episode titles there?) you're just never going to know about this little piece of cleverness unless you buy the DVDs, and shush to all of you who think that Friends is a giant suckhole of lame. I like it. And since I no longer watch ABC, NBC, CBS, TBS, or any of the other three-letter programming out there any more, I'll keep my vice and call it a day.
The bad news: my back is still cranky and I still have an unbelievable workload to get through and that won't change for a bit - the back is slowly getting stronger and more flexible but that just lets me work more. So, you may still just see sporadic posting from me for the next month or so.
The good news: my back is getting stronger, I've finally hired full time help for Pampered Puppy (our new Shopping Manager, Kim, starts in two weeks), and soon I'll be back bugging everyone with my seemingly endless lists of links to seemingly everything.
Meanwhile, some things I'd like to share:
Cooking has become a new fascination for me. While I'm not likely to do a megnut anytime soon (I love this weeb thing too much) I have been enjoying some new finds recently. 101 Cookbooks is just about the prettiest and yummiest looking foodie blog out there, and I can completely relate to the reason for its founding. Slashfood is, well, like it sounds, and rather amazing in terms of sheer volume. I recently tried Giada's Halibut with Balsamic Glaze recipe (with roasted fennel and onions, mmm) and I can vouch for its sheer yumminess. Chocolate high heel shoes - I cannot begin to tell you how pretty these are and how much I want some and then how very torn I would be about whether or not to eat them. And J.S. Bonbons in Toronto has chocolate classes including a chocolate tasting class that I would very much like to attend for my birthday. Yes, that's a big HINT.
Keilhauser's Junior chair (with the padded back option) is crazily insanely wonderful for you if you have a bad back and it's worth every single (numerous) penny.
Since I have always been a big fan of Dooce, I've been trying to branch out and find other, similar writers. Latest find: Miss Doxie, who is hilarious and includes some fabulous sketches occasionally with her stories and, frankly, is so wasted in her lawyering profession but I'm glad it gives her the wherewithal to blog as she likes. Plus, you gotta love someone with not one, not two, not three, but four doxies (I nearly peed myself reading her story on bathing the dogs). Not that they're as cute as my Merry, but hey, close. :)
More soon. Stay tuned.
