like a new pair of pantyhose2004.05.16
Another new design for the site. Yes, I know, I redesign my site too often. But it's my play space, dammit, and if you don't like it, well, there are always feeds. :)
New designs are just like a new pair of pantyhose. (Guys, you're just going to have to trust me on this!) They're snug, they hide some of the errors of the past, and they make your legs feel silky smooth. You can't help running your hands over them.
And so it is with designs. I couldn't possibly write an entry or an article on my design process, because even I don't know why something finally grabs me by the throat and says "okay, enough already, quit playing in Photoshop and CSS me!".
I just know when I've come up with a design that works for me because even a week later, I'm bringing up my own site just to look at the pretty little thing. The more I need to look at it, the better it's working.
It's also still pink, as you can see. I think I'm going through my pink phase, and will be here for a while, so you'll all just have to bear with me while I get it out of my system.
I've also gone back to the lovely Scriptina font from a few designs ago; it was too pretty to not use again. I know you want it, too. You can get it here. Maybe I'll start a trend.
Again, bugs, errors, weirdnesses, please let me know. It's been tested in current PC flavours, but I don't have a Mac handy, so error reports are welcome.
Oh, also, regarding Mac testing: a Safari user who got annoyed at the illegibility of one of my designs told me to use iCapture. It's like having a Mac, without having to pay for one, or worrying about where the right mouse button is.
It looks lovely on Mac/Firefox.
Yes. Very nice.
Thanks, everyone, for taking a peek on a Mac for me (Joseph, that link is great, thank you!).
About the legs:
For now, they're just fun. They've been in 7 designs now over the last 2 years, and I don't see them going away any time soon. After all, every girl needs her calling card. :)
Plus, they're one heck of a design constraint. You'd think that would be a bad thing, but in my case it forces me to be more creative than I would be if I could use any photo or drawing I wanted. I find I can also use the legs very easily now, after 7 redesigns, to evoke the mood I want - playful or elegant, businesslike or casual - simply by choosing the right pair of legs for the job.
One day I'll get around to posting all the other leg designs I've worked on over the years but discarded for one reason or another. You'd all get a chuckle out of it, I'm sure.
Very nice & feminine, yes. :)
I think the pink is great!
Lovely...
Loads nice and fast. Looks great.

Always with the legs... :)
Looks good though; I think I like it better than the last.
