assorted sweets #182003.12.02
I am so backlogged in sharing some of these assorted techie bits that they actually have spiderwebs on them. Apologies if you've not only seen these before, but had time to snail mail them to your buddy in Nepal before I got around to posting them.
New favourite blog of the moment: http://www.designdetector.com/
Chank Fonts has some pretty, pretty stuff.
Pheed.com is a database of information about photographs available on the web. Very cool.
From Caffeinate Your Hypertext:
Take a single serving of text, add the caffeine of hyperlinks, and the now-stimulated paragraph works better than a normal paragraph. But just like caffeine, using hypertext can have side effects. Nobody wants an over-caffeinated kid running around, destroying everything in sight.
Type Workshop has an excellent tutorial on the basics of type - terminology, spacing, x-heights... even my girl's favourite, ligatures.
Newseum: 266 front pages from 39 countries, presented alphabetically. (Warning: page takes for-freakin-ever to load on a slow connection)
Ages back, Zeldman shared a list of CSS goodies and if I don't blog 'em, I swear I'll lose 'em...
Complete CSS properties list, from WDG
Fast CSS rollovers, no preload needed
CSS Mini-tabs (horizontal)
CSS Mini-tabs (vertical)
Lots more to come. Stick around.
