can you trust marketers?
posted 2003.09.16

Based on the question above, taken in its rawest form, the answer is no. Of course not! After all, marketers (to use the stereotypical definition) aren't interested in what will benefit you or what's good for you, they just want you to buy what they're shilling out.

Which leads me to the crux of this question, which is: can you trust the Amazon reviews for books written by marketers? I used to give it no thought whatsoever, believing the Amazon reviews to be more or less as accurate as the ones found everywhere else on the site.

Until I started noticing that every single web marketer who had a book also had at least 4 out of 5 stars on their book; usually even higher.

Let's see. Ahem. Ahem. Ahem. And let's not forget. Uh-huh.

Doesn't it seem extraordinary to you that all marketing books are that well done?
