assorted sweets #142003.09.08
Two absolute requirements despite their crazy heavy memes: an awesome new colour picker (I'm so addicted to these it's completely unfunny) and Listamatic (list manipulation of the sweetest kind via CSS).
Note to self: read this, learn more css.
Do you like thinking about technology, the future, and social software? You should absolutely subscribe to Clay Shirky's newsletter (assuming you don't already). In his most recent newsletter, he talks about the new T-Mobile Wifi pricing plan, and he's wickedly funny:
Any pricing plan that is even moderately convenient shows up on the spreadsheets at HQ as being less than a rocket ride to riches, so they come up with the two-fisted brainstorm of making it less convenient to use, then slapping a "Now with new expensiveness!" sticker on it.
Isn't it amazing how sad and true that seems to be.
He also, helpfully, pointed to this excellent paper at First Monday (which I really should bookmark, and keep forgetting to) on the dissemination of a social network at Harvard U.
I've subscribed to Bloglines (you can see my public feed list here, but I don't have everything in there yet) and although I love the idea... oh, how I would love to see this site redesigned. Something much smaller and pixelly would be nice; alternate styles for different likes and dislikes would be great; allowing me to specify a URL of my own preferred stylesheet (assuming the site writes out valid XHTML code) would be perfect.
And I'm just so grateful I don't do drugs.
