I have been trying out a new RSS reader (working out very lovely so far, I might add, though I still think workflow is a problem...). The good news is there's a new bug fix nearly every day since I got it, so I know it's definitely getting better!
If this RSS reader doesn't work out, I'm trying this next. Or maybe I'll try it anyway. It's because of the information. I'm a junkie, you understand. I want it all and a hundred ways till Sunday and really, I will never satisfy my craving more more learning, more understanding, more thinking and puzzle-solving. It's like working out my brain. This may explain the 300+ emails a day, 5+ newsletters/day, and 100+ news feeds I read a day. Well, skim, anyway. :)
Anyway. On to the links.
Mark Hurst, as usual, has some smart things to say about the user experience: “Changing the organization is the most difficult and most important part of user experience work.” A-men. Which essentially means a successful user experience consultant has not only a background in technology, interface design, customer service... but also psychology. Don't laugh.
Robert Scoble and Chris Pirillo have been having a little discussion about the usefulness, or lack thereof, of tablet PCs. I have no idea if there will actually be enough adoption by software companies to make this thing fly, but oh, how I want it. I tend to fall right in with Scoble's argument, that for people on their feet, this can be a handy handy thing indeed. I'll go him one better, though, and say how I honestly believe it will help me with my dead tree problem.
I wish more businesses would listen to this advice. SEOs are just unneccessary. If you base your rankings on tricks, you'll forever be playing catch up when the engines (and they will) change the rules. Build a relevant site, follow a few simple rules that haven't changed for years, and you will get all the Googlejuice you need.
55 Fiction is sometimes funny, sometimes haunting, always fascinating. A short story in 55 words or less.
Mugglenet.com. Very cool. Since I devoured Phoenix pretty much in a single day yesterday, I can now finally catch up on Potter news from the last week (I've been trying to avoid spoilers until I'd read it). Also: BBC now has an RSS feed just for Harry Potter news. Awesome. (via Shifted Librarian)
