groovy, baby, yeah

Finally digging out after long icky bout with strep throat. Who gets such illnesses in the summer when it's beautiful patio weather? A girl geek with too much time spent behind a computer, most likely, but I'm starting to feel better.
I have been obsessed with retro design, clipart, fonts etc. for a while now. Yes, I know this doesn't exactly make me unique. I don't really care, since I'm not exactly going for uniqueness. The designs just make me laugh, kind of the same way the retro candy shops downtown filled with Pop Rocks and Rubiks Cubes and Lite Brite make me laugh, and that's OK with me.
Pixeldecor has groovy desktop patterns for download.
Fontdiner, my all time favourite retro site, has retro fonts to make even the most hard-hearted typography nut shiver.
Retro Ad Art has some great retro clipart and ads available for purchase on CD.
Tack-o-rama also has some retro clipart and ads for download.
Havana Street makes some super retro clipart. Times like this I wish my stick men didn't look so much like, you know, scribbles. :)
Fast Rewind has absolutely nothing to do with design but oh my GOD what a cool 80's movie site. If I didn't have enough web sites to juggle already, I'd totally want to do something like this. How awesome. (via pop culture junk mail)
I am not the only one feeling the retro groove, baby. Storylines abound in rumour and in the theater: Charlies Angels, The Hulk, Starsky and Hutch, Knight Rider, V (oh yeah!).
In a world where my television is filled with reality starlet millionaire survivor pap, it's stuff like this that makes a little geek girl feel good.
