Verisign may just be liable for the Sex.com fiasco. Hear, hear. I can't resist commenting when there is new Sex.com news. I've been following the thing for years and years and see it as one of the biggest examples that Verisign (the animal formerly known as Network Solutions) is just another company that's allowed to screw up as much as it wants without facing real consequences - at least, until this case. What this case will cost won't make a dent in their money, but it will set real precedent that will allow other individuals to bring suit against the behemoth for similar (if slightly smaller-stake) transgressions.

New find for the tech toys wish list: Sony Vaio W Series Lifestyle PC. Yum. One for every room, please.

The Chicago Manual of Style is online, and also answers new questions on a quasi-regular basis. Cool.

Great visuals - not so much on the web design, but his art is very interesting.

Genre and the Video Game: Mark Wolf suggests a new taxonomy for video game study. Worth flipping through.

Making your own language from scratch has been around for a while. Tolkien created several (sort of) and of course there is the familiar Klingon. But with LOTR on everyone's lips lately, seems like it's been pulled to the front of our consciousness. I had no idea there was so much behind and around this — but there is a newsgroup (alt.language.artificial), an online language construction kit with all you need to know to create your own language, huge resource sites devoted to the art, and a very impressive section of the Dmoz database is devoted to it. Fascinating.

Yes, I live in Canada. It's still funny. Or maybe especially so.
