safari, pet peeves and replicating the future2003.01.09
All it takes for me to find a favourite new article is to learn that one of my favourite writers has tackled one of my favourite pet-peeve-AKA-righteous-indignation topics, and that, my friends, is why the web is a wonderful thing.
Dear Web Developers, Browser Sniffing Is Stupid. Yes. Thank you! (Developers, are you listening?)
More proof that one day Star Trek will be a reality (yay!): 3D Printers. Sounds an awful lot like replicators to me! (via BoingBoing)
HTML Wireframes and Prototypes: All Gain and No Pain. Yup, yup, yup. Also Visio and Photoshop. I switch between the three depending on audience.
Set the drool-o-meter to maximum: Matt Jones has posted a wonderful PDF of the design process he and his team at the BBC went through on their last redesign. A wonderful peek behind a door that's almost always closed to the public. (via xBlog)
I jot down a note about a new browser yesterday, and by today everyone's talking about it. Apple announced a new browser yesterday called Safari. Ostensibly standards-compliant, there are already some reviews and reference sites available for what does — and doesn't — work in the new browser.
I just think it's pretty.
Also, MacEdition Guide to CSS2 Support in Mac-only Browsers now updated to show Safari specs. Gotta love the speed of the web.
