post Why subscribe to Mark Morford's2002.07.15

Why subscribe to Mark Morford's Morning Fix? Because where else, I ask you, would you find this phrase (whiny-intolerant-celibate-bitch-monkey) in a newsletter? Seriously. The guy writes like I rant. :)

BlogMeetup: MEETUP with other local Webloggers and talk about whatever. Cool. Toronto's meetup is at The Madison this Thursday at 7pm. I think this fine lady and I will toddle ourselves over for a peeky-boo.

Recently added to my Amazon wish list: The Artist's Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity. From the Amazon description: “a comprehensive twelve-week program to recover your creativity from a variety of blocks, including limiting beliefs, fear, self-sabotage, jealousy, guilt, addictions, and other inhibiting forces, replacing them with artistic confidence and productivity.” Yum. Looks like a great book.

640x480 Test Frame: nice and easy way to check out this low res, just to make sure your site isn't completely horrifying.

Coercion (Why We Listen to What They Say): “Unlike the adult marketers pursuing them, young people have grown up immersed in the language of advertising and public relations. They speak it like natives. As a result, they are more than aware when a commercial or billboard is targeting them. In conscious defiance of demographic-based pandering, they adopt a stance of self-protective irony — distancing themselves from the emotional ploys of the advertisers.” Just a part of the very well done PBS web site (and how often do you hear me say that?).

Didja love Doom? Well, didja? Myself, I always loved making my own .wads for the game, intricate layouts, lots of hidden passages, etc. But I digress. If you loved Doom, and would love to learn a little more about the basics of 3D gaming from a programming perspective, ExtremeTech's Game Engine Anatomy 101 is a great article.
